My new social media accounts

After experiencing the sudden and unexplained deletion of my Facebook and Instagram accounts last year, I found myself navigating the process of rebuilding my online presence from scratch. Despite the frustration and confusion that accompanied the loss of my previous accounts, I recognized the opportunity to start anew and forge a fresh digital identity. Thus, I took the proactive step of setting up new accounts on both platforms, eager to reconnect with friends, followers, and acquaintances in the online sphere.

With my new Facebook and Instagram accounts established, I invite you to join me on this journey by liking and following my profiles using the handle @GerryYabesPH. Through these platforms, I aim to share insights, updates, and glimpses into my life and interests, fostering meaningful connections and interactions with my audience. Additionally, I have also created a new Twitter account under the same handle, extending the invitation for you to engage with me across multiple social media channels.

While the process of rebuilding my online presence may have been daunting at times, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead as I embark on this new chapter. With a renewed sense of enthusiasm and determination, I look forward to connecting with old friends, making new acquaintances, and sharing valuable content that resonates with my audience. Thank you for your continued support and engagement as I navigate this digital landscape, and I invite you to join me on this journey of growth and discovery.

Facebook and Instagram accounts

It was in May 15th when I started to think that I need to go offline on Facebook as my account has been disabled for no reason at all. So my accounts on Facebook and Instagram were closed down. These are two addictive and dopamine-inducing social media websites.

A week later
A bit of adjustment after a week. I began to think that most of my time spent on reading articles. I develop my habit of reading blogs as days are passing by, took a lot of photos, etc. I also began to read Wikipedia articles, Spanish news, watching YouTube tutorials and a lot more. I also listen to music and start to learn vocalization. In the long run, I became more active by signing up a gym membership.

A month later
Well after a month, I began to be organized. Not just checking my calendars but to be mentally active and focused on things that I need to attend. I try my best to keep on visiting some parts of Metro Manila that I used to visit when I was working as a field researcher back then. So long as I have enough.

Alternative Apps
I have other apps that I am using now. These are meetup and couch surfing. These apps are useful in meeting people. Know what's happening sorts of.

I challenge you to do the same thing. Delete Facebook and Instagram accounts. Let's start to go offline.

Why I don't followback: Instagram 101

The question of why I don't follow back my followers often arises, prompting this post to shed light on my stance and reasoning behind it.

Firstly, the number of followers holds little significance to me. In the ever-changing landscape of social media, follower counts fluctuate constantly as people come and go. I prioritize genuine connections and meaningful interactions over mere numerical metrics that don't necessarily reflect the quality of engagement.

Secondly, I prefer to highlight and prioritize following personalities who inspire and resonate with me. My loyalty lies with those whose content and messages align with my values and interests. On platforms like Twitter and Facebook, I limit my follows to a select few individuals and pages, namely Bro. Eli Soriano and Kuya Daniel Razon, whose insights and teachings I deeply respect and admire.

Furthermore, I refrain from following back others to avoid comparisons and the desire for validation on social media. My focus remains on staying true to myself and my beliefs without seeking external validation or approval from others.

Lastly, maintaining a selective following helps me filter out unnecessary noise and distractions, allowing me to concentrate on what truly matters to me. By curating my social media feed to include only content that inspires and uplifts me, I ensure that my online experience remains positive and enriching.

In essence, my decision not to follow back is a deliberate choice to channel my energies and attention towards sources of inspiration, aspiration, and creativity, particularly those embodied by Bro. Eli and Kuya Daniel. It's about quality over quantity, and prioritizing meaningful connections that align with my values and goals. If this approach resonates with you, I encourage you to consider adopting a similar mindset and unfollow those who don't add value to your online experience.

Ten years and beyond on Facebook

It's been my decade on Facebook. Being with the largest social network for ten years means a lot. You've been making constantly connecting new people and new friends.

The most remarkable year is the year 2017 when I can search for my families, clans and relatives on Facebook. I have even create Facebook Group and Page for both Portales and Yabes relatives. It seems so very exciting to have these great families to be connected on and off Facebook. I even looking for a grand reunion and meeting with them!

Another thing is when I created Facebook Groups and Facebook Pages for the 18 regions, 81 provinces, 145 cities and 1,489 municipalities in the Philippines. My intention is to promote the locals by having official groups and pages and to encourage everyone to participate in the discussion. It's fun way of meeting new people as well as the chance to travel these places in the future.
So, I will stay on Facebook not just for ten years but beyond the ten years. It feels like I am in authority with these activities and discussions that I am doing with groups and pages, being the sole group admin/page manager and with the efforts of group moderators/page editors.

Of course, I have chance in helping the propagation of GOD's word in terms of sharing blogs of Mr. Controversy. Hoping these groups and pages get more audiences, with GOD's help.
So, keep up the good work. I am worthless with out GOD's help.

Unfriended

In past few weeks this August, I unfriended a bunch of people on my Facebook account. From close friends, strangers and even some of my relatives. This maintains a social account to authentic connections among virtual online friends.

By the way, this move require myself to set standards on who to keep connections with and those who should be avoided. One should be prioritized is to follow Facebook's Community Standards, the rest is mine. I myself adhere to real name policy to be able to protect every users from posting nasty things on Facebook if this is strictly monitored and followed. So all former Facebook friends whom I detected this violation are automatically deleted friends.

Second, using pictures of artists, celebrities, animals, cartoon characters, etc. should not be used as profile picture on Facebook account. It's improper to this. Others even use their child's photo as theirs! What a gross!

Then, those who works in The Krusty Club, Sa Puso Mo and other unbelievable profile information. Keep an eye on this. This will refect your online reputation as the saying goes "Tell me who your friends are and I will tell who you are." Make sure to hit follow button on all your friends and monitor their posts and their profiles as well. Just be patient for cluttered newsfeeds daily.

Finally, delete all Facebook friends who use more than one Facebook account. Report to Facebook as possible as you can. People with more than one Facebook account are not worthy to keep as social contacts. It's my opinion anyway.

More to come.

Facebook sharing method in groups

Blogs, posts, photos, tweets, hash tags, videos, links, etc. these are things people do with social nets. And facebook is a perfect place to share these things with friends, colleagues especially loved ones.

You can have maximum of five thousand friends in your facebook account. With that limit, whatever you share is tantamount to be likewse limited also. The target is still significant to reach these in your account.

First of all, I am the group and page admin of all related places in the Philippines. These have unified makings for everybody's easy identification. As time goes by, it will accumulate members and increase likes. These will make easy to reach and target more than the five thousand of a regulsr account eventually.

Atleast half of the Filiino population are on facebook right now. Maybe it is or not, then I will know the figure later. The groups and pages are lucky enough to accumulate these millions of Filipinos under one and same admin. The fame comes naturally by yours truly.

As of this date, 144 city-groups, over 1,400 town-groups, 81 province-groups in 16 region-groups are there on facebook for everyone's attention. Hopefully everyone is joining. See you there!

My Facebook is four years old

Facebook was launched in year 2004. That year, the popular social networking in the Philippines is Friendster. But Facebook became popular for me in the year 2007.

I could imagine that I am the first Filipino to have a Facebook account. Really! According to a research conducted by U.P. Diliman Mass Communications students, they have found out that most Filipinos have their Facebook account as of late 2009 and most of them were in 2010. Mine was 2007 and it has now FOUR years old!

But sad to say, Facebook is misused by some of my friends added to my account. And most importantly, there are some features of Facebook that is not used but don't know how to use it. Ouch
