Back to Blogging

It has been a long time since I blog with my blogger account. First, I can't find time to do it and currently busy at work here at a department store. Second, I have a tight budget that hampers my posts. And lastly, I have no words to say behind so many tasks. Hoping that anyone in the world will listen to my post and have a great time reading my blogs.

Let's continue with God's help.

Quotes from the first Aquino president

I am facinated by the quotes, speeches and others from the first Aquino president. Both Ninoy Aquino, Jr and Corazon Aquino have one and the same common denominator. They were great orators in their time.

Having to quote first the sayings of Corazon Aquino thus:

I've reached a point in life where it's no longer necessary to try to impress. If they like me the way I am, that's good. If they don't, that's too bad.

I would rather die a meaningful death than to live a meaningless life.

Reconciliation should be accompanied by justice, otherwise it will not last. While we all hope for peace it shouldn't be peace at any cost but peace based on principle, on justice.

The media's power is frail. Without the people's support, it can be shut off with the ease of turning a light switch.

One must be frank to be relevant.

National leaders who find themselves wilting under the withering criticisms by members of the media, would do well not to take such criticism personally but to regard the media as their allies in keeping the government clean and honest, its services.

You have spent many lives and much treasure to bring freedom to many lands that were reluctant to receive it. And here you have a people who won it by themselves and need only the help to preserve it.

Maybe this is one way of telling them how much it means not only to me but to all of us who love our democracy and who are searching for the truth.

I know I will receive a lot of criticism for this but I will do what I think is right for our country.

Do you have table manners?

A lot of people I met usually don't have any table manners. Having a good manners on table will give you edge over the others. You stand out and make a good impression on everyone especially to your partners, bosses and to totally strangers.

In my current work at Talavera Group of Companies, employees do not practice table manners or don't have any idea about it.They usually chew with their mouth open, talk when their mouth is full, they are not sitting straight, placing elbow on the table and a lot more.

The benefits of such manners is discussed in this link. You may visit www.mannersinternational.com containing good resources for manners and etiquette.

Quotes about our shoes

I am now working as a supervisor of a department store here in a city. The time my first day of duty, I was assigned to the footwear section. It is the department wherein a lot of customers coming in to buy shoes. Now this post is all about quotations related to shoes as follows:

A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.
Charles Spurgeon

A man cannot make a pair of shoes rightly unless he do it in a devout manner. Thomas Carlyle

Being constantly with children was like wearing a pair of shoes that were expensive and too small. She couldn't bear to throw them out, but they gave her blisters. Beryl Bainbridge

Between saying and doing, many a pair of shoes is worn out. Iris Murdoch

Creativity often consists of merely turning up what is already there. Did you know that right and left shoes were thought up only a little more than a century ago? Bernice Fitz-Gibbon

Don't speak ill of your predecessors or successors. You didn't walk in their shoes. Donald Rumsfeld

Essentially, I'm untrained, so I just go with my imagination and try to put myself as solidly as I can into the shoes of whatever person I'm going to be playing. Christian Bale

Have you ever heard the expression: Walk a mile in my shoes, and then judge me? And write your own books. Ann Rule

I never put on a pair of shoes until I've worn them at least five years. Samuel Goldwyn

Anti GMA 7

Nothing is fair with regards to news reporting involving religious personalities like Bro. Eli Soriano and Kuya Daniel Razon. This unethical attitude is evidently seen as Clavio deliever those kind of news related to the said person.

Since GMA 7 is not affiliated with KBP or Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas,  or they refuse to be affiliated, then the hope of being fair and unbiased journalism is unclear. In fact, they even malign the personalities behind the program Ang Dating Daan. The station's officials are affilated with Iglesia ni cristo as Inc's lost hope the battle of religious debate for over the last decade. So GMA 7 is controlled by the Inc.

But whatever happens, pious members of MCGI have nothing to fear behind this tactics. It is just a desperate move of Bro. Eli Sorino's detractors.

Finding old friends

As I am constantly searching for old friends in elementary and high school, I was surprised to see them via facebook. I am getting the chance to look back my yesteryears of being a child then.

It's a good thing to go remember things that we were together. Before we parted our ways, we spent a lot of time playing games in the ground. No computer games available yet at that time.

We have got the chance to play and have some sweat on our own. On which nowadays, the disadvantage of today's computer games. Hmmm... I just don't know what I am saying in this post.

I miss everything in Apalit

What I miss most in Apalit? Let me metion: thanksgiving, worship services, prayer meetings, practice with orchestra, being at live in Bible Expositions, prayer at the Chapel, everything about inside the ADD Convention Center.

Also with the people I meet for about two years. Classmates, group mates, batch mates, and everyone. With the La Verdad Christian Colleges officials, students, visitors. The smell of the places, the happy faces, the joyful dance steps, and everything.

Hoping that in the near future, may the good Lord lead me to be in Apalit town again. I really miss the place as I am listening to Yiruma's My Heart Sent To You piece.

More fruits to come!

The First week of August, 2011, I accidentally started on fruits diet. I eat pineapples, mangoes and bananas. I eat them of course with intervals for better digestion. With the help of dietitians, I have practice eating fruits with no other combination as usually people do.

Mango fruit is richin pre-biotic dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals and poly-phenolic flavonoid antioxidant compounds. While pineapple contains vitamins A, B1, Ccalcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, natrium, potassium, dextrose, sukrosa (sugar cane) and bromelain is used to make the meat tender, with the set of cancer growth, prevent platelet aggregation, and have activities fibrinolitik . It also has asid sitrik the expression to eliminate fat and thin body. Gynecology fiber can be easier defecate on people with constipation (constipation). The leaves contain calsium oksalat and pectic Substances. But pineapples has no direct connection with pine and apple.

Bananas contains good amount of soluble dietary fiber (7% of DRA per 100 g) that helps normal bowel movements; thereby reducing constipation problems.

The Evaluation Mania!

In reference of making or doing evaluation to employees, may I quote my source from here:

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION TIPS

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION TIPS FOR SUPERVISORS

  • Be honest and fair in evaluating all employees. Be certain that you as the supervisor have reviewed all of your employees in an objective and consistent manner as individuals and relative to other employees in the group. The purpose of performance evaluations is to take a realistic snapshot of the employee's performance. Don't say the employee is improving if (s)he is not performing well.
  • Be consistent in your approach. Don't create a situation where it appears that you create excuses for one employee while holding another employee accountable. Define your criteria for each level of ranking and use the same criteria for every employee. Don't set separate criteria for certain employees.
  • Give your comments. A ranking or number used to rank an employee's performance is useless without a written comment. Comments are required for any ranking that is less than "3 or meets expectations" and also for the highest ranking of "5 or exceeds expectations." Comments may confirm achievements or be constructive depending on the nature of the ranking.
  • Make your comments consistent with the rankings. Don't give someone a "meets expectations" ranking if your comment describes a substandard performance.
  • Be realistic. Don't inflate ratings. Inflation of ratings only inflates an employee's expectations.
  • Rate the employee's performance, not the employee's "attitude." Keep your comments job related and based on the employee's ability to perform his/her job. Avoid phrases like "bad attitude," "he's not a team player," and other subjective type comments. Explain the behavior that is a result of the "attitude."
  • Set goals with the employee. Don't just criticize a deficient performer; set goals for follow up and for improvement or development. Work together to create a plan of action to help the employee in deficient areas and to establish goals for the coming year. Set a follow up period and be sure to reevaluate the employee at the appropriate time.
  • A performance evaluation should motivate an employee to want to improve. The employee should feel excited about the challenges and his/her ability to meet them. If employees hear only about their failures and weaknesses, they'll start to believe they can't succeed. If employees get support and encouragement from their supervisor, they'll gain the desire and confidence to keep trying. When the supervisors' suggestions for improvement bring results - and recognition - employees are even more likely to listen to future suggestions.
  • There should be no surprises. The evaluation should be a review of the past year's performance. Through previous counseling and other communications, the employee should be aware of any concerns you might have about their job performance. The annual evaluation should not be the first time the employee learns of your concerns.
  • One tool that may be used is to ask the employee to review his or her own performance and expectations for the future by preparing a self-appraisal. They may complete the same evaluation form that the supervisor uses or may draft a memo or list reviewing performance strengths and weaknesses and future goals. Having the employee go through the same exercise may make it easier for him or her to understand the value of the evaluation process.

What a security guard does?

According to Buzzle.com, a security guard should accomplish the following tasks: to safeguard, patrol and monitor any theft or violence in the premises where he has been assigned duty.

The main task is to provide safety against any law violator and determining any sort of disturbances that will incur loses to the client. Sad to say, some (not all) Talavera security guards in the depart store do not practice in this dictum.

Instead, they observe employees with their work and everything that bypasses the hired supervisors. Log book must be used in case there are violations against existing laws of the Republic of the Philippines as some of it contains grammatical errors, wrong spelling.

Another thing, they do the work of a Sales Clerk in terms or arranging items inside the depart store.

Diet on the go

As I am getting older, people of my age are getting out of shape. If you have plans on getting on the corporate ladder, you have to stay on shape. By doing so, you will have the benefits of being healthy of course and with a wind sprint.

My attitudes towards diet has drastically changed with the lectures conducted every Saturday thanksgiving at Apalit, Pampanga by Dr. Villanueva:

  • Eat fruit one at a time at empty stomach
  • Rice and vegetable combination
  • Vegetable and meat combined
  • No drinking after eating meal
Eat, drink and be healthy. Let your food be your medicine. Good diet on the go!

On Music training

Do you have synonyms for the term, From everlasting to everlasting? Mine is simply as from music to music! Before the creation there is already music. According to Sharon Fabian, she said in here article entitled Music from the Beginning:
  1. There was music before there were people to listen to it. Birds sang. Wind whistled, and ocean waves crashed in a steady rhythm.
  2. People have probably made music since their earliest days on earth too. Maybe the first human music imitated the sounds of nature. Humans may have created songs in imitation of the sounds of other creatures. Once people had words to speak, maybe they also had words for songs. Simple hunting tools might have served as early percussion instruments. Simple flutes made from hollowed bones have been found that date back to 10,000 BC.
  3. Archaeologists have found evidence that music was played in ancient civilizations including ancient Egypt and Babylonia. Since early music was not written down, the earliest evidence of music is in the form of pictures showing musicians and musical instruments. Evidence of written music from the later BC years has also been found.
So to all music lovers out there, try to learn some instruments. It's fun!

Mis-informed people

There are texts message I received last March 14, 2011 stating that radiation from Japan will affect the Philippines. Hence, the message is giving us warning of a possible problem that might detrimental to our health. This is because the fuel rods at the Unit 2 reactor at Japan's Fukishima Daiichi Plant are fully exposed.

National Telecommunications Communication (NTC) should penalize people behind this prank text message. It is just an effect of abuse of text unlimited service and promos of telcos. The message produced panic among people specially in Cebu.

People should be aware of this kind of messages and call government agencies to confirm the veracity of this information. Doing so will not cause panic to the public amidst disasters, unrests and destabilization. Be careful of these messages and be ready for a disaster anytime.

My Facebook is four years old

Facebook was launched in year 2004. That year, the popular social networking in the Philippines is Friendster. But Facebook became popular for me in the year 2007.

I could imagine that I am the first Filipino to have a Facebook account. Really! According to a research conducted by U.P. Diliman Mass Communications students, they have found out that most Filipinos have their Facebook account as of late 2009 and most of them were in 2010. Mine was 2007 and it has now FOUR years old!

But sad to say, Facebook is misused by some of my friends added to my account. And most importantly, there are some features of Facebook that is not used but don't know how to use it. Ouch

Why having a different line of thinking?

When I was studying at La Verdad Christian College (LVCC), my teacher told in our class one afternoon that I have a different line of thinking. He didn't cite any reason why it was so. He noticed that I am different among the class.

The difference of thinking is my inspiration to put this blog. Although I am not a writer, I didn't even passed from college paper to become one of its staff. I am still pursuing to write and write and write. To the extend that I gain a lot of experience doing so.

And if by chance you read this blog of mine, kindly post some comments. That way, you may contribute and collaborate about any topic posted on this blog.

Good luck to all of us and God bless.
